Safe Water Campaign

CEDA helps to bring clean and safe water to families in rural communities in Argentina by partnering with experienced local organizations that build sustainable, community-owned water projects.

Community Involvement — where most potable water projects have traditionally focused exclusively on the construction of water cisterns, water tanks, etc., CEDA also recognized that educating and raising the awareness of the community on water and sanitation issues is vital to success. Monte Adentro trains in good water and sanitation practices.

Solution — rainwater harvesting is an economically and ecologically sustainable solution since it is nourished by a renewable natural resource, with a very low maintenance cost. During dry months in Chaco (January, February, March, May, November and December), the Public Works Department of the closest town bring water in trucks to supply each water cistern.

Beneficiaries: 4 rural communities from Chaco

Institution: Monte Adentro

Cost: $7,000 (USD) Includes the construction of underground cisterns, and water and sanitation workshops.

Project Status: 5 cisterns to serve 7 families were built (April 2024).
